Our blog is meant to document our trip through Europe during the summer of 2010 as we make our way towards Australia for a year's sabbatical. It's an attempt to stay in touch with family and friends, to avoid Facebook, to remember our experiences, and to facilitate mild home schooling for the children.

We're on a buuuus, and it's going...slow, yo.
Tewkesbury, one of the largest medieval towns and sight of a fantastic old Abby, been around for more than 850 years. Details on that later. We stayed at a nice B&B whose owner (husband of the husband & wife owners) loves his toys. Full size snooker table squeezed into a largish room - but its a full 16 foot table. Pinball machine (the kids loved it). And a partly restored, genuine double decker bus. Apparently it was the bus that used to take Rob (the joint owner) to school, a dozen years ago it was going to be scrapped & he bought it out of sentiment & is restoring the bus to its former glory. So we all piled on & tooled off to Cheltenham - Sid, PK & kids, owner & his wife & 2 girls (4 & 6 - Emmett wouldn't leave them alone) & 2 other guests from the B&B. Rob has nerves of steel, flinging this hulking machine through small English countryside roads. Cheltenham is nice, they've adopted the Regency style architecture of London - lovely (expensive!) row houses surrounding charming squares. But the bus was the hit. Some people tried to flag us down as we blew past stops - no doubt the Cheltenham transport authorities will be receiving some complaints.
