Our blog is meant to document our trip through Europe during the summer of 2010 as we make our way towards Australia for a year's sabbatical. It's an attempt to stay in touch with family and friends, to avoid Facebook, to remember our experiences, and to facilitate mild home schooling for the children.

Swiss Alps
Philip figures that we have eaten dinner in 43 different restaurants in Europe. But we're moving into Germanic territory, and we're a bit worried about the culinary shift.
For now, we're in Luzern, Switzerland near Zurich. It's about a 2 hour drive from Lake Como but we stopped near Lake Lugano for some outlet shopping (Emmett did very well--we're all so sick of our clothes at this point) and then to chase down the elusive Harry Potter tome. The drive was easy--the Swiss just tunnel through mountains to make roads, so only a few curves and no real up and down. One tunnel we drove through was 16 km. We arrived in Luzern by suppertime, staying right on the lake and looking out over snow-capped mountains. Yodel-ay-hee-hoo!

Just catching up to the Kearns/Ray family thanks to a Rose-Sarah connection that I finally tapped into (it's all about who you know...) So glad to see you are doing well and having a blast. We are all well, too. School has started (remember school, Kearns kids??), big brother Daniel has gone off to Boston College, it's almost apple-picking time, and fall soccer has started in with a vengeance (5-6 practices or games a week, now that Sarah is playing both travel and St. Ann's).
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good blogging, I'm thinking of living vicariously through you over the next couple months. :-)
Alice
Welcome, Alice! We hope Daniel is settling in at BC and that Rob, Matthew and Sarah are doing well--sounds like it. Thanks for the news--we're dying to hear about stuff in B'lyn and St. Ann's. xo
